Can 1st page do...(very newbie)

  • I am brand new to 1stPage, and also to HTML stuff. I haven't found much online to show me exactly what this program can do, or how to do it. I have put together several pages using 1stPage in the last two days, but they all look very basic. I was able to get as fancy as a simple drop-down menu and a form. What I want is to have a more professional look to my site, while still being easy to figure out w/ little HTML knowledge.
    I honestly don't even know what most of the things I am interested in are called...but want to learn. (Or at least fake my way through it!) :)
    Is there anyone kind hearted enough to talk me through some of this, or even just to point me in the right direction? I have a few sites bookmarked that I like the look of, but like I said, I'm not sure if 1stPage can do it, or what its called to even ASK if it can do it.
    I also have 100 newbie Q's like Why when I make a page named say, nubians.htm do I later see that one AND ~1stNubians listed?
    When I'm ready to put the site online, how do I do that?
    How can I get a nice Menu like the one at http://www.npga-pygmy.com/default.asp or even http://www.evrsoft.com/ ?
    I have Yahoo IM (mishwilf) if anyone can chat w/ me... or IM me here...
    My talents and interests always seem to lie in two different areas. :)

  • All I can really say it to start the basics. Check out w3c schools and search for DHTML menus, CSS menus, or CSS in general. That stuff takes a bit of time and its best to take your time and learn. Once you begin to learn a bit you can easily start to understand the program of 1st page. If you find something you like , view the source code of the site.
