Us Phx-sjc/sjc-phx $58+ Rt Rxausa6

  • I'd guess this is a response to a Ding, but that's just a guess. :)

This is by the far the lowest I've ever seen this route. $78.80 all in. Just loaded in about 40 minutes ago, I can only find it on usair.com so far. I couldn't purchase a ticket using Firefox, I had to use IE to book a ticket, or it errored out.

    Available late July-November.

  • Too bad this isn't EOS. It'd be a nice way to get to the Desert DO in April.

So when do PHX hotel rates fly north? :)

  • Just grabbed two sets of these for Sep... so it's still going strong. ^

  • Not bad, but still $.06 per butt-in-seat mile. I found a few days where a MR would be a great fit, taking up just 1/2 a day (out 1 ish, back around 5:30, looks like the same plane).

Anyone else in PHX doing this?

Well, I booked a flight, but not for any type of MR. Considering that I paid $250 for my last PHX-OAK ticket, I don't mind driving a few more miles for this kind of price.

  • US Air website says, Miles earned = 1738.
So, I gather it's NOT a nonstop?

    What's the routing?

(Even us UA flyers are sometimes interested in USAir deals.... ;) )

  • It's also useful to post the mileage.... @:-)

According to the WebFlyer MileMarker at www.webflyer.com , PHX-SJC is approximately 1,240 miles round trip.

  • Now showing up on Expedia with the standard booking fee.

  • Actually, I was asking for the FLIGHT miles -- not the bonus miles. @:-)

Sorry I thought you were wondering whether it was nonstop and how the 1738 miles earned was figured. I happened to be booking a ticket myself at that time and thought the info would be helpful. That'll teach me to post so late at night!

Agree that for those of us who need to fly this route and have been paying over $200, at $58 we're happy for the money saved not the miles earned. Thanks OP.

Agreed, there are way better MRs and segment runs than this. But this is about as good as it will ever get for this route. Mrs. Alliance and I picked up two sets for the SFO mega DO and a DMB show at Shoreline in September. We saved over $600 for our flights vs. the going rate for PHX-bay area.

Aren't SJC, OAK and SFO technically all considered the same location? I'm wondering if you could go to the airport and change to one of these other airports on your flight date.

  • Be careful of Mesa, a few hours on a RJ will kill you.

Does US Air (never flown them before) have a 24 hour cancellation policy?

    Thanks.

    Nonstop, per US site:
    Flight Miles
San Jose, CA to Phoenix, AZ 619
Phoenix, AZ to San Jose, CA 619
    Bonus Miles
    usairways.com Online Bonus 500

Some of us fly in order to earn/requalify for elite status. Bonus miles typically do not count towards that. (Also, bonus miles are generally awarded in different amounts depending on the elite status of the flyer.)

Anyhow, my original quote of 1,240 round trip miles from Webflyer was not far off -- in reality, it would apparently be 1,238 miles. In other words, as a UA 1K I would earn 1,238 EQMs (elite qualifying miles) from this trip. (Any bonuses I might earn would be redeemable miles only -- aka RDMs -- rather than EQMs.)

Bottom line: ALWAYS differentiate between EQMs and RDMs when quoting mileages earned. @:-)

Most of the flights are on A320's. Trust me, I really try and avoid RJ's! I'm not sure if US has a 24 hour cancellation policy. I'd check the sticky's in the US forum.

Hotel rates are pretty close to their bottom right now. They start going back up in September, and reach their peak from November on, I'd say.

  • Great deal, I'm in.

    Grand Canyon time.
