Any way to do a date restricted European search?

Posted by jane on January 6th, 2009
  • I'm familiar with Travelocity's Dream Maps, but I would like to be able to set up an "automatic" search for "every" European city from multiple US cities LIMITED TO A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD and a certain maximum price. Specifically, I want to find an easy way to catch any summer transatlantic sales (say June through August), including those to secondary cities I might not ordinarily think of, without having to deal with all the "noise" of off-season pricing.

Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

  • Thanks, Jaguar. The only thing I can't figure out from the ita page is how to scan for multiple destinations (like the way travelocity lets you do a 100 mile radius). Ideally, I'd like to do something like a 500 mile radius! Also, I'd like to be able to set a price cap like you can on the Dream Maps feature.

    Any ideas?

  • Here is a tool that will help you get part way to your goal,

www.itasoftware.com has a month-long search tool and it will let you select cities within certain distances. You have to input the approximate length of time you want to stay. Possible direct link:
    http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/prego/calendar;jsessionid=5995247211893521B26012D09130D7 10
If that does not work, try http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/ and click on "Month Long Search" in the upper right.

Be careful when studying the results because they will sometimes have you open-jaw at one or both ends. This may be OK with you, or it may not. (For instance, if you leave a car at the Austin airport, you do not want to be surprised by returning to a Houston airport,)

  • To search for multiple destinations separate them by ;, Like: Par;Lon;Ams. You can't select a mile radius, so you'll have to enter the main destinations by hand.

You can prevent getting different airports for the outbound and the inbound by selecting "more options" and then unchecking "allow airport changes"

Setting a price cap isn't possible, but it's also not needed when you get to know the system.

    Good luck!
