How is it? What are the best benefits? How are the lounges/what locations?
I just noticed that Qatar is a fast growing airline, so its frequent flyer program qmiles will probably play a more important role in future...

My favourite part of the program is the family system
Once you have reached Burgundy status, you can enrol up to 9 family members*. Qmiles earned by the family members are calculated based on the Burgundy tier and credited to the main member's account. Children aged 2 - 11 years nominated as family members will earn 50% of the Qmiles while family members aged 12 and above earn 100% of the Qmiles.
* Please note that the numbers assigned for your nominated family members must be used at the time of reservation with Qatar Airways and partner airlines in order for the Qmiles to be tracked automatically.
* Any Family Nominations or changes in the existing Family Nominations can be made only by the main Privilege Club member with the consent of the family members being nominated.
Most FF programs don't give 100% of the miles to the family member, whereas QR does.
Redemption rates are not too bad in peak, and excellent in off peak to/from Doha, and high if flying via Doha
Heathrow - Doha
Cabin Class Low Season High Season
First 90,000 120,000
Business 60,000 80,000
Economy 25,000 30,000
One way Upgrade Y-->J or J-->F 20,000
F/J class almost always sells out before Y class.
Cheers
I'm sure when the new airport is built(?2-3 years) and new fleet additions introduced it will be a great all round product. I just personally can't see Doha becomming a new Dubai although the intention is definately there. That said, however, Dubai is growing at such a rate that some may welcome using QR and DOH as an alternative as I know some collegues are doing switiching to GF/BAH from EK for that reason.
Time will tell. I'd say go for it.
:cool:
